The River "S" Unit of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge has a 4.2 mile auto tour route and 1.5 mile seasonal hiking trail. The auto tour is an excellent way to see the Refuge. A pair of binoculars is a must and a camera makes it even more fun !!!
Ridgefield Birdfest Weekend !!!!!!!! ... Saturday, October 10 photographed on the Carty Unit and took the Cathlapotle Village hike ... Sunday worked the River South Unit kiosk for 5 hours and did the driving route as the sun went down. Not many birds either day (too many people) but the "planned" events were wonderful ... Waited for the Sandhill Cranes and the sunset ... First Bald Eagle of the season !!!!! ... All images with either the Rebel XTi with a 300zoom, or the Canon G9 point-and-shoot.
